FAQ

Here are some of the frequently asked questions our busy Aitkenvale workshop receives.

  1. Can you service my vehicle while under new car warranty?

Yes, your vehicle can be serviced by us while under the manufacturer's new car warranty.

  2. How often should I change my engine oil?

This generally depends on the make and model of your car. Some manufacturer's advise engine oil to be changed at 5,000km while others recommend 10,000km. What we suggest is your engine oil and filter be renewed every six to eight months at not more than 10,000km.

  3. Is EFTPOS available at your workshop?

    Yes.

  4. Do you do wheel alignments?

Yes, we conduct two-wheel and four-wheel alignments. We recommend that a wheel alignment be carried out when renewing your tyres.

  5. How often should I change my air filter for my car to perform efficiently?

Once a year is normally the minimum advised by the automotive industry. If your car is running sluggishly, having your air filter checked for any blockages is also a smart option to stop your engine overworking.

  6. How regularly should I change my engine coolant?

Here, at Jim Chaillon's Auto Service, we use a long-life engine coolant, which has a specified service interval of four years/250,000km. It is recommended your cooling system be flushed and coolant renewed when your cooling system requires repairs as different coolants should never be mixed.

  7. How often does my brake fluid require changing?

It is recommended that brake fluid is changed every two years.

  8. How often should I service my automatic transmission and power steering?

This varies depending on driving conditions, but our qualified staff recommends approximately every 30,000km to 40,000km.
